Nov 19, 2018 · I suspect the heating element has gone on my Miele Prestige Plus 6 washing machine as it keeps tripping the electrics when it gets to a certain point in the cycle. I saw the part can be bought and set out on taking the washer apart. Using some good info on here I managed to remove the front and sides and think I’ve located the heater element. Just to clarify, GFCI receptacles don't provide over current protection, that's the job of a circuit breaker or fuse. Simplified, GFCIs work by measuring the current flowing in and out of the receptacle and when that it senses an imbalance, it trips. Usually it takes 5 milliamps (5/1000 of an amp) or less of imbalance to trip the device.

  • I have a Miele W5741 washing machine which is three years old. The other day it tripped the electricity (RCD) I found that it would trip the RCD every time regardless of what program I used. After a few trials I have found the following: if I use the machine and select cold water (no heating of water) then it does not trip the electricity (RCD).

The above washer was purchased new and installed on 10/26/01. During the past two years or so it sometimes trips the GFCI. This usually happens sometime during the initial fill cycle but once in awhile it happens during other parts of the cycle. This is an intermitten problem and seems to do it when ever it feels like it.
